Il programma Erasmus+ si rinnova grazie all’introduzione dei programmi intensivi misti – blended intensive programmes, BIP. Sviluppati da gruppi di università con un approccio pedagogico innovativo, i BIP prevedono brevi periodi di attività in presenza combinata con attività di apprendimento e cooperazione online, a cui possono partecipare gruppi congiunti di studenti, personale docente e staff amministrativo provenienti da diversi Paesi per collaborare a specifici compiti in modo collettivo e simultaneo.

CO-MOON: Construction on the Moon

The SUMMER SCHOOL – Blended Intensive Programme COMOON will take place at the Pindaro Campus from 6 to 12 July 2026. The initiative is designed to offer PhD candidates and Master’s students in Engineering and Geology an overview of Space Geology and of current construction methods on planets targeted human exploration, mostly focusing on the Moon. All activities will entitle participants to 3 ECTS credits, to be formally validated by the Erasmus+ Office of their respective universities.

The training activities will be held online during the weeks preceding the event – in June – and in person from 7 to 11 July, from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m. The online lectures will provide the theoretical foundations, while the in‑person sessions will show students how to build Lunar and Martian habitat using 3D printers, how to test rocks in the laboratory, and how to explore Mars and the Moon through 3D virtual reality directly from Pescara.

Finally, students will take part in a field excursion to one of the rare sites where traces of celestial‑body impacts on Earth are preserved.

This experience will bring participants closer to the fascinating fields of Space Geology and Planetary Construction Engineering beyond Earth.
