MANUSCRIPT CATEGORIES

The InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology publishes original articles, review, brief reports, abstracts, book reviews, editorials letter to the editor.

At the time of submission a copy signed by all listed authors of authorship responsibility, financial disclosure statement and copyright transfer must be send by mail to InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology.

    If authorship is attributed to a group, all members of the group must meet the full criteria and requirements for authorship; one or more authors may take responsibility for a group, in which case the other group members are not authors, but may be listed in an acknowledgment.
    In the cover letter include: statement on authorship responsibility, statement on financial disclosure and copyright statement. Each of these three statements must be read and signed by all authors.
    Authorship Responsibility ”I certify that I have participated sufficiently in the conception and design of this work and the analysis of the data (when applicable), as well as the writing of the manuscript, to take public responsibility for it. I believe that the manuscript represents valid work. I have reviewed the final version of the submitted manuscript and approve it for publication. Neither this manuscript nor one with substantially similar content under my authorship has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere.
    If requested, I shall produce the data upon which the manuscript is based by the editors or their assignees.
    Financial Disclosure I certify that any affiliations with or involvement in any organization or entity with a direct financial interest in the subject matter or materials discussed in the manuscript are disclosed below.
    Research or project support should be listed in an acknowledgement.
    Copyright Transfer In consideration of the action of InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology in reviewing and editing this submission, the author(s) undersigned hereby transfers, assign,or otherwise conveys all copyright ownership to the InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology in the event that such work is published by the InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology.


    PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT
    Manuscripts will be received on the understading that they have not been and will not be published elsewhere while under editorial review. Manuscripts may be subject to editorial revision with the author’s agreement.
    The author must sign the covering letter (as evidence of consent to publication). It doesn’t underline or use italics type and capital letters. The abbreviation must be written out in full with the abbreviation following in parenthesis.
    The preferred medium of submission is by e-mail and is free of charge. Alternative medium is electronic manuscript in WORD for Windows format.

    E-MAIL
    To send your paper by E-mail use, preferably, the HTML language for the texts.
    JPEG format for the pictures.

    ELECTRONIC MANUPSCRITS
    Electronic manuscripts have the advantage that there’s no need for the rekeying of text, avoiding the possibility of introducing errors and resulting in reliable and fast delivery of proofs.The preferred storage is htm or Word for Windows. Your disk and the text of manuscript should be submitted together to the editor; in case of revision the same procedure should be followed such that the file on disk and the digital printout are identical.
    Please specify the type of computer and word-processing package used (do not convert your textfile to plain ASCII). Ensure that the letter I and digit 1 (also letter O'and digit '0') have been used properly, and format your article (tabs, indents, etc.) consistently. Characters not available on your word processor (Greek letters, mathematical symbols, etc.) should not be left open but indicated by a unique code (e.g., gralpha, @ , etc., for the Greek letter alpha). Such codes should be used consistently throughout the entire text.
    Please make a list of such codes and provide a key. Do not allow your word processor to introduce word splits and do not use a 'justified' layout.
    Please adhere strictly to the general instructions on style/arrangement and, in particular, the reference style of the journal. Further information may be obtained from the Administrative Assistant.


    Should include the first name, middle initial and last name of all authors, highest academic degrees, Institution, addresses for correspondence preferably by E-mail and grant support. Colleagues who have otherwise assisted or collaborated should be recognized in the Acknowledgement section. The title should be informative and short, specific, and clear. Avoid use of extraneous words such as “study” “investigation”, etc. If data from the manuscript have been presented at a meeting, list the full name, date and location of the meeting and reference any previously published abstracts in the bibliography.


    Abstract written on a separate page should have the main aim, data, message of the manuscript in an indipendent account.
    The abstract should contain, where applicable, the following headings in sequence: Objective(s), Methods, Results and Conclusions. Traditional free-text abstracts will be used when not applicable the standard abstract.
    Brief articles such as Letter to the Editor, Brief reports, Abstracts, Editorial, etc. will not require abstracts.

    KEY WORDS
    The key words should be furnished in the manuscript and should be included 3-5 items.

    THE INTRODUCTION should set out the purposes for which the study has been perfomed.

    THE MATERIALS AND METHODS should be detailed so that readers can understand what has been done without studying the references directly.

    THE RESULTS should be presented precisely. Keep discussion of their importance to a minimum in this section of the manuscript.

    THE DISCUSSION should relate to the study being reported. Do not include a general review of the topic.

    REFERENCES
    Author is responsible for accurate reference. References are cited by the numerical system according to their appearence in the text and not to the authors’names.
    Unpublished data and personal communication should be not be listed as references but parenthetically within the text.
    References to journal articles should include
    (1) author(s) (if more than six, write “et al” after the third name),
    (2) title,
    (3) journal name (as abbreviated in Index Medicus),
    (4) year,
    (5) volume number,
    (6) page numbers, in that order.

    References to books should include
    (1) author(s),
    (2) chapter title (if any),
    (3) editors (if any),
    (4) title of book,
    (5) city of publication,
    (6) publisher,
    (7) year,
    (8) page(s), if indicated.

    Examples:

    FIGURES
    Figures must be suitable for high-quality reproduction, line drawings must be prepared either by a graphic artist and photographs must have a glossy finish and sharp contrasts. All must be labelled with the author`s name and are in colour or black and white and are free of charge. Legends must be typed together with the figure.

    ILLUSTRATIONS
    Submit illustrations as many as you want. If the papers is not submitted by E-mail send, the illustrations in triplicate (preferably 5x7 in), unmounted and untrimmed, with each set separately packaged. Figure number, name of senior author, and arrow indicating “top” should be typed on gummed label and affixed to the back of each illustration. Magnification and stain should be provided when pertinent.
    Illustrations in full color are well accepted for publication. Please submit one set of positive transparencies (35-mm slides) and two sets of color prints.

    AUTHORIZED USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS
    Recognizable photographs may be published only if specifically consented to by the patient.

    LEGENDS
    The legends for the illustrations should be typed, with double spacing, on a separate sheet.

    TABLES
    Each table should be typed double-spaced on a separate sheet and contain no vertical rules.
    If a table must be continued, use a second sheet and repeat all head and stubs.
    Each table must have a title. Abbreviations must be used only for units of measure.

    STATISTICAL CONSULTATION
    We recommend that statistical consultation be obtained as early as possible for studies with statistical content. The name and affiliation of the statistical consultant (if different from the author) should be included.

    PROOFS
    Proof are not provided for E- mail and electronic manuscripts. Corrections must be clearly indicated in red ink. Corrected proofs should be returned to the publisher as soon as possible. The papers will be labelled by the departement of publication into the journal pages.

    REPRINTS
    The paper may be requerest to the administrative office. Cost is related to the number of reprints requested.
    Authors are authorized to reprint all the papers by themselves. Papers are under copyright and copies are authorized for personal use only, not for duplication.
    When the paper disappear from the “Original articles” pages of InterNet Journal of Ophthalmology, will be stored in the Data Base and requested to the Administrative Assistant with charge.
    Title and abstract will remain in the “Index page” free of charge.
