CINBO
is a non-profit organization that was established in
1987 under the Italian law.
It is a Consortium of 13 Italian Universities whose
mission is to study the bio-molecular characteristics
of human cancer. Particularly, CINBO is currently developing
technological platforms (biochips) for early diagnosis
and prognosis evaluation of gastrointestinal cancer
as well prediction of sensitivity to anti-cancer drugs.
Besides being active in translational
research, since 2001 CINBO has established a training
program in cancer, named Mediterranean School of Oncology
(www.unich.it/mso.cinbo),
whose aim is to fulfil the educational needs of PhD
students, medical oncologists and other health care
professionals who are involved in the management of
cancer patients and are residents into the Mediterranean
countries. The program is articulated into independent
courses.
